Katie McDonald, PhD, is the Associate Dean of Research and a Professor of Public Health in the Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics at Syracuse University. Professor McDonald is a Fellow of the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (AAIDD), Chair of Syracuse University’s Institutional Review Board (IRB), and a member of the Editorial Board for Autism in Adulthood. McDonald previously lived in community with individuals with and without intellectual disability. McDonald uses socio-ecological theory and community-engaged research to promote the inclusion of adults with disabilities in research as research partners and research participants to advance new knowledge to promote social and health equity.
