Shamira Chappell, MPH, is a public health professional with ample experience in comparative qualitative and quantitative research. Committed to dismantling systemic inequities, she earned her Master's in Public Health from the University of Connecticut at UConn Health.
As a Program Manager, Shamira leads the complete grant lifecycle, overseeing pre- to post-award processes. She excels in optimizing operational efficiency, managing administrative functions, and refining Foundation initiatives. Previously, she contributed significantly as a scientific research associate at UConn Health, conducting impactful studies and collaborating across disciplines. Prior to her career in scientific research, Shamira was a secondary STEM educator in Fort Worth, TX – underscoring her dedication to education and equity. A proud Spelman College alumna, she actively engaged with the UConn community through roles in the Dean's Diversity Council and Graduate School Diversity Council.
Beyond her professional roles, Shamira is deeply committed to community service. She leads the Grant Practice Work Group facilitated by the PEW Research Center and serves on the CHART/UCHF Board for Universal Health Care Foundation of Connecticut, where she shapes influential policies and safeguards financial integrity. Shamira's multifaceted contributions highlight her as a proactive force in advancing research, education, and equity.
